This session is designed for both specialists and non-specialists and aims to build your knowledge and confidence in planning and delivering engaging, high-quality music lessons for children in the Early Years.
Together, we’ll explore how to facilitate and assess progress in music and how music can be used as a powerful tool to support learning across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
The training will include a range of practical, easy-to-implement classroom ideas and resources, and will provide insight into how music can enhance outcomes and ensure progression.
The session will cover:
- Understanding the Early Years music curriculum expectations
- What progression looks like in Early Years music
- Strategies for evaluating and monitoring musical progress
- A bank of useful resources for classroom use
- Creating a culture of high expectations through music
- Using music to facilitate progress across all seven areas of the EYFS and support children in meeting their Early Learning Goals
- Sharing of ideas and effective resources
There will also be opportunities to share ideas and ask questions in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About Rebecca Beavis
Rebecca is a qualified primary teacher who has focused her career to date in primary music and creative arts education. She has over twenty five years’ experience of music teaching, training, curriculum/provision development and subject/project leadership in a variety of settings: Early years, primary, secondary and SEN.
After having lead the creative arts provision in a UK multi academy trust of seven schools for over ten years, she recently relocated to the Seychelles to lead on music in an international school. Amongst many awards she was awarded ‘Inspirational music teacher 2023’ at the ‘UK Music and Drama Education Awards’.
