In partnership with Norfolk Libraries and The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge 2026: Read to the Beat, we are offering young musicians informal performance opportunities over the summer holidays, in the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library in Norwich, NR2 1AW.

Is there an age restriction on this opportunity?
- We invite young people from 5 upwards to book a performance slot
Do I have to play to a certain standard?
- No, the idea of this initiative is to keep young people practising and playing over the summer; by giving them a performance opportunity this will hopefully provide an incentive to keep practicing.
- We welcome beginners through to advanced performers with rehearsed material. The space provided will offer a friendly informal opportunity for young people to perform.
How long do I need to perform for?
- You can book a 5, 10 or 15 minute slot.
Can you accommodate duos or trios?
- Yes, we can accommodate duos or trios or singing groups with up to 10 young people
Is the space accessible to all?

What instruments can you accommodate or will be supplied?
- There will be a digital piano and music stands available; we can accommodate any instrument apart from drums.
- If you would like to perform with backing tracks a small PA will be available, but we will not be amplifying voices or instruments being played due to these performances taking place in a library where other activity is taking place.
What dates are times available?
- We are offering lunchtime sessions from 12pm-2pm on the following Thursdays:
- 23rd July
- 30th July
- 6th August
- 13th August
- 20th August
- 27th August
Do young people need to be accompanied?
- Yes, anyone under the age of 18 will need to have a family member present for their performance
When will I be notified if I have successfully received a performance space?
- You will be notified by Monday 1st June.
Will I need to provide information on my performance pieces?
- If you are successful in gaining a performance slot, you will be asked to submit information on the songs you will be playing. Please note that all performance pieces must be suitable for a family audience.
