Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub are thrilled to welcome back Mark De-Lisser to work with young people in secondary settings aged 11-19, in Norfolk and Suffolk who show an aptitude for singing.
We’re thrilled to launch year three of this project! Over the past two years, 150 young people from across Norfolk and Suffolk have experienced the power of singing together.
Echoes of the East will be working towards a performance at Savannah Sundown on Sunday 7th June at Banham Zoo. The group will rehearse three specially arranged pieces in collaboration with Mark De-Lisser. They will be performing alongside a special guest celebrity singer, accompanied by Norfolk’s Symphonic Wind band and County Strings. The group will also have the opportunity to enjoy other performances taking place throughout the evening.
Music leads will receive the resources at the start of the summer term and work to prepare their young people for this performance. A rehearsal with Mark will take place from 10am-2.30pm on Thursday 14th May at Banham Zoo, in their theatre. Music leads will be supported with full resources to work on these tracks in their own educational settings.

FAQs
What are the timings, venue and date of the rehearsal?
- 10am-2.30pm on Thursday 14th May at Banham Zoo
Venue
- Banham Zoo, Kenninghall Road, Banham, Norfolk, NR16 2HE
Do my singers need to read music?
- No, but we expect that every student participating in this project has prior experience of singing either solo or in a group and wants to progress their vocal knowledge. We are looking to create a ‘show group’ therefore we will require performers to be animated and portray the music they are singing visually through performance.
Will I need to practice with my students?
- Yes, prior to the rehearsal we ask that you look at the songs, which will be available from Monday April 13th. All students will be expected to sing the three songs without lyrics.
Do I have to attend the rehearsals and the performance in June?
- Yes! Please do not register for this opportunity unless you can commit to the rehearsal day in school time and the final performance on Sunday 7th June.
What are the timings of the event on the 7th June?
- There will be a rehearsal with Mark, the band and the guest singer at 4pm-5pm
What time will the performance take place?
- The performances will take place from 7pm-8.15pm

- Yes, there will be picnic area available
Will the vocal group be supported with tracks or a live band?
- The vocal group will be supported by Norfolk Music Service County Wind band and County Strings
What are the expected outcomes and legacy of this project?
- To bring like-minded people together who would not normally get the opportunity to sing together.
- To work with a nationally renowned choral director who will be able to nurture the vocal group and provide professional support to Music Leads supporting the vocalists.
- Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub hope to continue to expand this opportunity, year on year to offer young people who enjoy singing a unique experiencing of mass music making, whilst also looking to be recognised nationally.
- Educational settings would then have access to the resources to utilise in their own settings and replicate the pieces learnt.
