Join ‘Baroque Masterpieces’ with Gabrieli Roar at St Edmundsbury Cathedral
We are delighted to invite secondary and further education choirs from across Norfolk and Suffolk to take part in Baroque Masterpieces, a project in partnership with St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Gabrieli Roar.
On Wednesday 22nd April 2026, around 150 young singers will come together at St Edmundsbury Cathedral to perform alongside Gabrieli’s professional singers and orchestra in a celebration of some of the most glorious music of the Baroque era. This is an exciting opportunity for students to experience the thrill of large-scale choral performance in one of our region’s most beautiful cathedrals.
The programme includes:
- Purcell’s Rejoice in the Lord Always
- [Purcell’s Come Ye Sons of Art (Gabrieli only)]
- Vivaldi’s Gloria
- Bach’s Chorale Prelude (BWV 147)
To help choirs prepare, Gabrieli Roar have created a Spotify playlist featuring the works to be performed. In early spring, schools will also receive digital learning materials and scores. Schools must attend an advanced workshop with the Gabrieli Roar team on 16th and 17th April 2026 (venue to be confirmed).
There’s no expectation for choirs to arrive note-perfect, only that students are familiar with the music and ready to take part enthusiastically. On the day of the performance, participating choirs will join Gabrieli’s singers and orchestra for an afternoon rehearsal, followed by an evening concert open to the public.

This will be part of Gabrieli Roar’s national tour, visiting cathedrals and working with schools and youth choirs across the country.
